1 Big Sustainable Island
Annabessacook Lake
Monmouth, ME
Words don't describe how awesome 1 Big Sustainable Island is, and the people who run it. This fully sustainable 14 acre island was so relaxing and fun to stay at. We stayed in the A Frame and for four people it was an affordable escape. Some of the best parts: boat shuttle to the island by the owner who talked to you about the entire lakes history. The compostable toilets, rain barrel pump sinks and shower, are luxurious for camping and are actually truly sustainable (no greenwashing). Free firewood, canoes, and fresh water at your disposal. The trails around the island are fun and you definitely have to use the rope swing.

Remember, when here to follow leave no trace and sustainability guidelines. Do not leave trash and respect all aspects of nature to keep this place wild and sustainable.
