I pause to solemnly acknowledge that the land in which I call home, has served as the homeland to the Cowasuck Abenaki and Wabanaki for generations before Europeans called it home.
Ndakinna, know as the Dawnland, is the home of the Abenaki that now roughly includes Northern New England. Ndakinna has and always will be home to the Abenaki, and we give gratitude to their presence.
We recognize the unforgivable injustices caused by settler and acknowledge the continuance of oppression today. Through awareness and knowledge I hope to listen and lift up Abenaki voices, following their lessons of being better caretakers of our planet.
